About

Ahmet Taşer completed his primary, secondary and high-school education in Germany, acquiring native-level command of German in the process. After returning to Turkey, he graduated from the Department of German Language Teaching at Dokuz Eylül University and began his career in translation, combining his academic training with professional expertise.

Since 1992 he has worked in Istanbul as a sworn notary translator and court translator for German. Over more than thirty-five years of professional experience, he has translated numerous legal and official documents for courts, notaries, law offices, public institutions, companies and private individuals.

His area of specialisation is legal translation. He is expert in the accurate, complete and terminologically consistent translation between German and Turkish of texts that produce legal effects — above all court judgments, case files, contracts, powers of attorney, expert reports, commercial documents, corporate records and official documents.

In his professional work he is guided by the principles of accuracy, impartiality, confidentiality and professional ethics; he takes care that legal texts are translated not only from a linguistic standpoint but with due regard to the conceptual framework of the legal system to which they belong.
